WRITER / DIRECTORGerard Johnstone

Gerard was born in Invercargill and moved to Australia in 1999 to pursue a career as a stunt man. This didn’t pan out, and instead he ended up working in a meat factory with a guy on prison leave named ‘Wazza’.

On returning to New Zealand Gerard pursued a directing career and won the highly coveted 48 hour film competition in both 2003 and 2005. Because of this, the network allowed him to write and direct The Jaquie Brown Diaries, despite having no professional experience or on-set etiquette.

Jodie Molloy co-wrote episodes 3 and 6 of the Jaquie Brown Odyssey and also co-wrote on The Jaquie Brown Diaries. Jodie originally worked in music PR & TV publicity which gave her first hand access to the strange and insecure world of celebrity.
