The Jaquie Brown Diaries

Jaquie Brown

JAQUIE BROWN

Lead Starlet, Co-creator

Jaquie Brown parodies herself by playing an insecure and misguided reporter with an addiction to fame. Jaquie is prepared to do whatever it takes to secure her position as the channel’s no. 1 light relief reporter, even if it means making some morally reprehensible decisions in the process.

MADELEINE SAMI

SERITA SINGH

Played by Madeleine Sami

Serita Singh is the new face picked to appeal to the channel’s growing ethnic audience. Annoyingly beautiful, smart and resourceful, Singh threatens to destroy everything that Jaquie has not worked very hard for.

HANNAH BANKS

KIM SHAREE

Played by Hannah Banks

Like Jaquie, Kim is a woman who puts her career before everything else. As a burgeoning network publicist with beauty and brains to boot, there is no task too difficult when it comes to getting the best for her stable of on-screen show ponies.

RYAN LAMPP

TOM

Played by Ryan Lampp

Tom is Brown’s freeloading flatmate who is pursuing a hopeless career as a stand-up comedian / actor / writer. While he might share Jaquie’s shocking work ethic, he at least still has his morals in tact and tries to remind Jaquie that there are more important things in life than status.

JONATHAN BRUGH

IAN MCHUNTLY

Played by Jonathan Brugh

Veteran stage comedian Jonathan Brugh plays current affairs host ‘Ian McHuntly’. Ian’s a consummate professional of the broadcasting world with charm and charisma that requires several power naps a day to reboot. Off camera Ian also has a shocking vocabulary and a keen eye for the ladies.

GEELING NG

ELENA

Played by Geeling Ng

Last seen internationally as David Bowie’s ‘China Girl’, Geeling Ng comes out of retirement to play Jaquie’s hard-boiled producer Elena. An ex-news anchor herself, Elena expects a high standard from all her journalists, even the ones specialising in quirk.

GERARD JOHNSTONE

Co-Creator, Co-Writer, Director, Editor, Dreamweaver

Gerard met Jaquie while working together at music station C4, where they struck a rapport making several in house shows such ‘C4 at the big day out’ and ‘Behind Brown’s Ring: A Lord of the Rings Extravaganza’. The Jaquie Brown Diaries marks his professional debut as a writer / director with actors and a proper film crew and shit. Prior to this, he was a two time winner of the 48 hour film competition and before that he worked in a meat factory.

JODIE MOLLOY

Co-Writer

Jodie Molloy began her writing career with a string of successful theatre productions, including the highly acclaimed Play 2, Play 2.03, Sex with Strangers and My Brother and I Are Porn Stars. Jodie has paid the bills in between writing jobs by working in PR, music promotion and TV publicity, making her more than qualified to write about the curious world of NZ media.
